El 18 de gener de 1997 la infermera manresana de l’ONG Metges del Món Flors Sirera va ser assassinada a Rwanda mentre desenvolupava la seva tasca humanitària. Han transcorregut ja 24 anys dels fets i ningú ha pagat pel crim.

Malgrat el temps transcorregut l’oblit no és una opció. Manresa té en funcionament la Casa per la Pau i la Solidaritat que porta el seu nom i cada any celebra un memorial que contextualitza el crim en les lluites pel control geopolític d’una zona amb cobejats recursos naturals.
